'Drawing in Two-Point Perspective' Course with Amy Wynne

1h 16m | Beginner

I watched a class recently on the importance of sketching free hand in design. It got me thinking about the scenic visuals I've previously created and the software I used. I came to the realisation that since learn to use SketchUp and V-Ray I've drifted away from the more traditional methods of sketching and painting. The very idea made me nervous highlighting to me how out of touch I've got with a skill I used to pride myself in having. Whilst I could and will be live sketching everything I see for the next few weeks, I decided to also work on sketching my visualised designs during meetings with the BATAR students. Leading me to now, I want to improve the perspective of my drawings, to do this I will be participating in Amy Wynne's LinkedIn Learning Course titled "Drawing in Two-Point Perspective".

Improving my perspective drawing will enable me to create sophisticated visuals not limited by the capabilities of software such as SketchUp. This will allow me to construct a set with more freedom of the lines and forms, building atmosphere and character int the visual. It will also allow me develop my free hand sketching, gaining me the skills to portray and build upon my visuals with others to demonstrate the progression of a design during conversations with others.

Practising drawing in two-point perspective free hand has really helped strengthen my ability to draw exterior and interior scenes. Wynne's strategies to build compositions through elaborating the illusion of depth, have made a considerable difference to the quality and overall appearance of my perspective drawings. I also feel more confident in my ability to free hand sketch visuals in perspective, and believe I can only continue to improve this discipline. This is a course I would 100% recommend to anyone looking to develop or improve upon their scenic drawing skills.
