'Illustrator Quick Tips' Course with Chad Chelius
23mins | Beginner
My first encounter with Adobe Creative Cloud was during my Art and Photography A-Levels, Illustrator wasn't available but we had frequent interactions with Adobe Photoshop. Whilst I had a couple of brief Illustrator classes in first year, its not something I continued to pursue and instead I usually fall back into using Photoshop for everything. Last week I completed a class on InDesign Layouts this week I've decided to give Illustrator a go. Since I already know some of the basics from first year I've chosen a course that is designed to demonstrate helpful tricks and explain useful features. I'm hoping this will make me more comfortable using Illustrator and encourage me to experiment more with other applications not just Photoshop.
Although the session was mainly a refresher of the basics, I found it really helpful in teaching me some quick techniques to improve the quality and refinement of my graphics. For instance, you can add additional layers to a group to develop a texture or 3D effect within your designs.
I discovered the design brief for ‘Basic’ through 'Good Brief' an app that generates creative briefs to help individuals like myself further their skills in a creative context, on a daily basis. I then proceeded to combine the design brief, with some of the things I had learned while completing the course 'Illustrator Quick Tips'. By the end of completing this course, I feel much more confident in my ability to handle Illustrator and plan to further explore what this application has to offer my future designs.
