Lecture 6: Music and Video

With Adelina Court and Paul Robinson

I really enjoyed this Lecture. I found the videos where the visuals and the music complimented each other really captivating and the more I focused on the sound and movement the more I found that I experienced the music differently. I found I was beginning to form a higher appreciation for the outcome of both sound and movement together than previously.

Paul and Adelina described music videos as a rite of passage for animators. Admittedly when this was first suggested I didn't understand what they meant by this. However as the lecture progressed I found I became more immersed in the sounds accompanying the animation, I then fully realised the meaning behind this statement. When you just start out animating, especially in my case it's easy to forget about the importance of the music as your focus is driven by the visuals. This being said the music is so significant it can change the whole atmosphere of an animation.
